Container Lifecycle: Idle Sleep & Wakeup
How sandboxed containers scale to zero when idle, wake on incoming requests, and manage memory efficiently.
Container Lifecycle States
AcadSites micro-containers transition through three distinct lifecycle phases based on incoming traffic:
| State | Trigger | Resource Impact | Latency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active & Serving | Inbound HTTP traffic | Full memory & CPU allocation | < 25ms |
| Idle Low-Power | No requests for 15 minutes | Memory compressed; scale-to-zero | 0% compute cost |
| Instant Wakeup | New inbound request arrives | Container boots within ~800ms | Sub-second cold start |
Manual Pause & Resume Controls
In your Project Settings, you can manually toggle project state between "Live & Serving" and "Suspended / Paused". Pausing a project immediately halts traffic routing and suspends the container, allowing you to temporarily take down apps without deleting configuration.
